Tester Assessment Home Page
The Tester Assessment Library (TAL) has been created to help organisations to evaluate
their testing teams' testing competence using psychometric assessment tests. We have created two types
of assessment that cover basic testing aptitudes (a bit like an IQ test), and a testers' ability to
review documents, perform tests and log incidents (a much more practical test).
Organisations as diverse as
use the Tester Assessment Library to benchmark existing employees and evaluate prospective candidates.

Tester Aptitude Tests have been designed to assess a
range of skills required to do effective testing. These skills include
natural language comprehension, interpretation and analysis, basic
arithmetic and logic, accuracy and attention to detail and following
instructions.
The skills areas that are assessed were derived from a job analysis of a
standard testing process. Our "standard" test covers nine
skills areas using 45 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 45 minutes.
We would be pleased to set up an free evaluation account and tests. We can provide
our standard tests, but can also create customised versions if you
require. Please let us know.
These tests are similar to the common IQ and occupational assessment tests, but they
focus specifically on testing-related skills.

Testing Case
Studies (TCS) are integrated sets of requirements and software programs
that can be used as realistic 'desk exercises' to assess a tester's
ability to interpret and review specifications, prepare and execute
tests and log incidents.
TCS give testers realistic tasks to complete that directly reflect the day to day
activities of reviews, test selection, execution and incident logging.
TCS documents and software programs have known faults and are
calibrated.
Incidents are logged using our own online facility. These incidents are used to assess
tester performance and can be performed by Evolutif, or your own, trusted
assessors.
We have a selection of generic and business domain specific TCS to match your
business area. If we don't cover your business area, perhaps we could
create a TCS specifically for you?

Tester Assessment Guidelines
- Most organisations get a selected group of existing staff
to take the tests to define a 'norm' for performance before rolling the test
out to the rest of their team or using them for selection purposes.
- Tests can be used both as an assessment instrument, to identify
development opportunities for your test team, but also as a training tool.
TCS tests can be used as part of more practical testing training courses.
- We do not recommend you use test scores to select candidates for job
selection. Rather, we suggest you use the tests as a pre-interview
information gathering instrument. You can use the outcome of tests to
focus on specific strengths and weaknesses at interview.
- Tests can be administered by one of your staff using a supervisor
account. In this way, you can manage and monitor usage of the tests
centrally and confidentially.
Coming
soon...
- We will be adding additional aptitude tests to the library to broaden
the range of tests available to ensure the validity and confidentiality
of tests.
- We will shortly be providing a sample ISEB Foundation Certificate
Examination on the library. This can be used for exam practice or
assessing your testers knowledge of the ISEB Syllabus.
